Carmina Burana

At last, as a response to your requests, the Seattle Choral Company & Orchestra have made their own recording of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana! This new CD recording is now available for purchase. Look for this album in major Seattle area classical CD stores and Amazon.com in the Classical Music section listings.

Since its sensational premiere in 1936, Carmina Burana has appealed to a wide international audience. The work takes its name from a collection of medieval manuscripts found in 1803 in a Benedictine monastery near Munich. German composer Carl Orff set to music a selection of poems and songs from this unique source, which brought together elements of Gregorian chant, village peasant dance, and student tavern singing and melded them into a percussive, almost primal work, which has been enjoyed with spirit and gusto by listeners everywhere.
