“The Seattle Choral Company brought chills and thrills to an appreciative audience . . .
from the first notes, the orchestra and choir delivered a stunning performance.”
The popular Mass in Time of War is one of the six late masses of Haydn which are among his finest works for chorus and orchestra. It was written in 1796, when Vienna was under threat by Napoleon’s army. Cannons could be heard in the city center. Those cannons are ominously portrayed by solo drums in the final movement, giving the mass its German name, Paukenmesse (Timpani Mass.) Our performance of Haydn’s masterpiece promises to be powerful, joyful, and emotional.
The Seattle Choral Company joins the Northwest Sinfonietta, their distinguished conductor David Lockington, and four superb soloists. Tickets for this event are $40 and purchased directly through our office by emailing us at email@example.com or by filling out the form at the bottom of this page.
